A little philosophy first

Before we get to the rules, let me tell you what this place is.

Cycasc is not a product. It's not a community. It's a handful of services I run on my own hardware because I like the idea of a place where people can talk, build, share, and just be without an algorithm deciding what they see next.

The internet was supposed to be a place where people talk to each other. Friends. Acquaintances. Strangers who turn out to be interesting. A place where you can play a game, write a wiki page, or just sit in a voice channel and talk about that sick gaming session 3 days ago. That's what this is. A small corner of that original internet.

And because it's small, because it's mine, and because it's built on the goodwill of the people who use it - we need a few ground rules. Not to be bureaucratic. To keep it a place I'd want to hang out in.

The short version

Be a decent human. That's it.

If you're not sure whether something is okay, ask. If you're sure it's not okay, don't do it. If you're sure it's fine but someone else isn't - that's on you to fix, not on them to endure.

General rules (all services)

This section applies to every service I offer that lets you interact with other people. The rules are simple.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of:

• gender
• sexual orientation
• origin
• skin color
• religion
• (and honestly, anything else that makes you different - you're welcome here)

Everyone is treated humanely and equally. No hierarchy. No "premium users". No "verified accounts". You are a person, and I'll treat you like one.

Be kind to yourself and others. The internet is full of people who think anonymity gives them a license to be cruel. It doesn't. Not here.

Cycasc Public TS3 (ts.cycasc.net)

TeamSpeak is a voice channel, not a wrestling ring. The following will not be tolerated:

• Spam. Neither in text nor in voice.
• Insults. Personal attacks, slurs, or jokes that are actually just cruelty with a punchline.
• Defamation. Spreading lies or unverified claims about other people.
• Channel herding. Constantly moving people to other channels. If you need to move someone once, fine. If it's a game you're playing, it's not.
• Too loud noises or music. Please check your mic. Please check your soundboard. Your neighbor's dog barking is not a shared experience I want to have.

Soundboards are allowed, but please don't overdo it. A well-placed soundboard is a spice. A constant barrage of them is a food poisoning incident.

Minecraft (mc.cycasc.net)

Minecraft is a sandbox, not a free-for-all. The following will not be tolerated:

• Griefing. Destroying or tampering with other people's builds. If you built it, it's yours. If they built it, it's theirs. Simple.
• Cheating. Hacked clients, X-ray, fly hacks, speed hacks - none of it. This isn't a competitive server where "winning" justifies it. It's a place to build and hang out.
• Chat toxicity. The same rules as everywhere else: no insults, no slurs, no harassment. If you can't be decent in chat, you can't be in chat.
• Lag abuse. Spamming entities, placing/destroying blocks in rapid succession to lag others, or any other "creative" way to make the server unusable for other people.
• Stealing. Taking other people's items or breaking into their bases.
• Enforcing PvP. If someone doesn't want to fight, they don't want to fight.
• Not respecting build zones. If someone has a plot or a base, don't build on it without asking. "Can I build here?" is a question, not a permission slip.

Everything else

For all other services I might run, the general rules apply. Common sense is the rule. If it's rude, it's not allowed. If it's harmful, it's not allowed. If you're not sure, ask.

Reporting and talking to me

I don't have a moderation team. If something's wrong, tell me. If you think I've made a mistake, tell me. I'm a person, not a court.

This page also doubles as my abuse contact. If something's happening on my services - or if you're being harassed by someone who uses them - just reach out. I'll do my best to look into it.
